How to Build, Refill, and Rearrange Your Modular Makeup Palette

Most palettes are finished products — a fixed set of shades someone else chose, half of which you'll never touch. The MiPalette compact works differently: it's a modular, refillable system where you choose the case, choose the shades, and change both whenever your look changes. One palette that grows with you, instead of a drawer of half-used ones.

Here's how to build yours, and how to keep rebuilding it.

Step 1: Choose your case

Start with a tone-inspired metal case that resonates with your skin, your style, or your energy. The three case families are inspired by three moments of light:

Sunstone captures soft daylight — warm, clear, and naturally luminous, made for a fresh, effortless glow. Amber reflects golden-hour light — warm, dimensional, and softly defined, bringing balance and depth. Bronzewood is shaped by deeper evening light — warm, grounded, and quietly powerful, with richness and a refined sense of depth.

Importantly, these are finishes and moods, not categories meant to define you. Each is a different way to express a look.

Step 2: Pick your shades

Shade selection on MiPalette is guided by undertone, look, and mood — not guesswork. Rather than matching yourself to a pre-assembled palette, you select individual pans that work with the warmth you actually wear. (If you're unsure of your undertone, our undertone guide walks through how to read it and which shade families flatter warm olive and medium-deep skin.)

Every pan you choose meets the same clean standard: more than 50 ingredients are never used in our formulas — a standard, not a trend response.

Step 3: Build — and rebuild

Place your selected pans into the slim case — the compact is designed so pans seat securely and release cleanly when you want to swap them. Shades, tools, and touch-ups come together in one compact you can carry. And because the system is modular, this arrangement is never final: swap a shade out when the season changes, rearrange the layout for a trip, replace a pan you've hit the bottom of without replacing anything else.

Why refillable matters

A refillable compact changes the economics and the waste profile of your makeup routine. Instead of discarding an entire palette because two shades are spent or out of rotation, you replace only the pans you've used. Your case — the most durable, material-intensive part of the product — stays with you. And your palette stays current: as your style evolves, the palette evolves with it, one pan at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MiPalette compact refillable?

Yes — it's a fully modular system. Choose a case, pick individual shade pans, and swap or replace pans over time.

Can I change the shades in my palette later?

Yes. Building and rebuilding is the point of the system. Swap shades, change looks, and evolve your palette as you evolve.

What case options are available?

Three tone-inspired families: Sunstone (soft daylight), Amber (golden-hour warmth), and Bronzewood (deeper evening depth).
